Goal: Newport Mesa FCA was honored to welcome members of the LA Galaxy for a soccer clinic on May 3rd. Our hope was to give our student athletes the opportunity to be encouraged and inspired by athletes who have excelled in their sport while keeping Christ at the center of their lives. Point Loma Nazarene University soccer stud Natalie Swift opened our day with a devotional about what it looks like to play fearless. Then, LA Galaxy President and former player Chris Klein challenged our students to model their life after Christ as they pursue their dreams. Finally, LA Galaxy star forward Alan Gordon shared his testimony with the student athletes. Gordon was uniquely transparent and open in his willingness to talk through the ups and downs of his career and his reliance on his Creator in the process.

Goal: Both Chris Klein and Alan Gordon were game to jump on the field and scrimmage with our student athletes. Even though he doesn’t play goalie and was wearing jeans and polo, Gordon was happy to man the goal for a couple of games and two student athletes were still ecstatic to score on him! One of the highlights of the clinic was watching the students interact with the collegiate and professional athletes on the field. It was a blessing to see our student athletes receive highly personal training from athletes they respect and admire.
